Valheim iron – how to get iron and everything you can craft?

You can’t mine copper, tin, or build better bronze equipment without the antler pickaxe from the boss.

How to get Iron in Valheim?

To get iron in Valheim, you must take on The Elder, the second boss. It is a lumbering, tall tree giant that can be found in the Black Forest biome. It will drop a swamp key once it is defeated, which unlocks crypts within the swamp biome. 

The swamp biome is not as difficult as an insta-death from a roaming Plains deathquito but it’s still challenging. You will encounter new enemies here in the form a blob, which is actually formless and applies poison over time.

You should have plenty of poison resistant mead to combat the swamp and plenty of food. Our Valheim Fermenter Guide will help you make potions. The crypts look like burial chambers.

They are an underground maze that is filled with loot and chests. You can find muddy piles here, which you can use to mine for materials. These muddy piles can drop all kinds of materials, including withered bones and leather scraps. 

The Wishbone dropped by Bonemass the third boss will also help you locate these muddy piles. This boss is one of the most powerful in the game. We recommend that you search some crypts for iron to find him.

Scrap iron can be used in the furnace in the same way as copper and tin ores. and iron Ingots will come out of the other end. This opens up a lot of new recipes, gear and equipment for building, including a stonecutter to make stone walls.
